Reimagining a Victorian Tradition The UK's Oldest Licensed Carriage Experience

'Birthday treat in Windsor'
'We thoroughly enjoyed our carriage ride on The Long Walk. Rebecca and John gave as a warm welcome, were very knowledgeable, friendly and were patient with the girls as they had lots of questions! We were able to stop for photos and to learn about the tack used for carriage driving. My daughter has hardly stopped talking about her special carriage ride since we got back. We highly recommend Windsor Carriages.' - TripAdvisor Review

Step Back in Time with Our Heritage Rides on The Long Walk at Windsor Castle

Embark on a journey through Windsor's rich history along The Long Walk at Windsor Castle. Ideal for families and international visitors seeking an authentic British heritage experience, our rides offer more than just a carriage journey—they immerse you in tradition and storytelling.

For over 170 years, Windsor Carriages has been a cherished symbol of Windsor's heritage, offering Victorian-style horse-drawn transport on The Long Walk. Preserving this tradition has been challenging, especially with the decline of horse-drawn transport and the rise of modern vehicles. To adapt, we've focused on bespoke events and day visits, where a carriage ride is part of a carefully curated experience.

Our heritage rides are a tribute to this tradition, with proceeds supporting educational programs that inspire future generations to connect with this unique history.
Please note that these rides are scheduled on the first weekend of each month, subject to our availability. We recommend booking in advance to ensure your spot and avoid disappointment.

Join us for a timeless experience that combines history, tradition, and the beauty of Windsor.

'A highlight for any Windsor trip, especially with kids'
'Had a terrific time. Two adults and a toddler, and all of us enjoyed the tour very much. The folks driving the carriage were extremely friendly and helpful, and gave some great history notes. We got good photos and our daughter even got to pet the horse. It was one of the highlights of our Windsor visit. Absolutely recommend it.' - TripAdvisor Review
