Coronation Concert Ballot

How can I get a ticket?

There are 500 pairs of free Coronation concert tickets available through this online ballot.

Each successful applicant in the ballot will be able to nominate a guest, giving a total of 1,000 tickets. Tickets will be standing, not seated. You cannot buy a ticket for the concert.

The ballot is open to those who are residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. If you are not a resident of RBWM, you must enter the national draw here.

Applications will be online only and only one application per person is permitted.

Ballot applications will be accepted from 15:00 hrs GMT on 20th February 2023 until 23:59 hrs GMT on 28th February 2023

Tickets will not be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. There is as much chance of your name being drawn if the application is made on 20th February as by the closing time on 28th February.

How will tickets be allocated?

Tickets will be selected via an independently verified ballot, which will take place after the application process has closed.

In order to process your application we have a data sharing agreement in place with Ticketmaster. If I am successful in the ballot, what will happen?

You will be asked to submit your guest's name and details, alongside your own, at application stage. Applicants & their guests may be subject to pre-event security checks by other parties including the Royal Household.

If your name is drawn in the ballot you will be notified by email by late April. You will then be asked to claim your tickets and confirm your attendance at the concert. You will have two weeks (14 days) in which to claim your ticket and you will be sent reminders by email during this period.

Full instructions on how to accept your tickets will be sent to you by email in March/April. You can use either a pre-existing Ticketmaster customer account to claim the tickets or create a new one. There is no charge for a Ticketmaster account or for accepting your tickets. Your phone is your ticket and you will not receive a paper ticket or be able to print out a version of the digital ticket, it must be presented on your phone to obtain entry to the event.

You will also be sent specific information about the arrangements for the event and what to expect; including Covid-19 guidelines, security arrangements, entry and exit points and timings.

If you are successful in the ballot and then cannot attend, please do not claim your tickets. If subsequent to claiming your tickets you find that you cannot attend, you will be able to cancel by contacting Ticketmaster customer services

Please note that tickets are strictly non-transferrable. If, for whatever reason, you or your nominated guest is unable to attend, you may not pass on your ticket to someone else.

How old do you have to be to attend?

You must be 18 or over as of 20th February 2023 to apply for tickets.

The concert is not suitable for young children; tickets are standing and it will be a long day – starting late afternoon and finishing late in the evening. Therefore, your nominated guest must be aged 11 or over as of 20th February 2023. Proof of age may be required. Nominated guests aged under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or someone who is acting with the written consent of a parent or legal guardian.

If I'm not successful in the ballot where can I watch and listen to coverage of the Concert?

The Coronation Concert will be produced by BBC Studios, broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

I need help with my application – what can I do?

Please ensure you fill out all the fields on the application page correctly, including the mandatory fields. Tick the box to accept the Terms and Conditions; and press submit. You will receive an on screen confirmation message and a confirmation email within 48 hours. Please ensure that you check your spam and junk folders for this email.

If the website is busy, due to the high volume of people applying, please try again later. Please remember tickets will NOT be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

What will happen at the Event?

The concert will take place in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Who will be performing at the Concert?

What time does the Event begin and end?

The Concert will begin mid evening and will last for approximately two to three hours.

If you are successful in the ballot, we will let you know the exact timings, as well as more specific information on travel and transport in Windsor, so that you can plan your journey well in advance (see below).

What sort of security arrangements will there be?

Guests' safety and security whilst at the Concert is a priority, so ticket holders are advised to arrive early to pass through security screening processes. All guests will be subject to a security search on arrival.

As well as checking each guest's digital ticket, guests will also be asked to bring the photographic identification they used during the application to the ballot. Acceptable Photographic Identifications are:

• Passport
• UK Driving Licence or UK Provisional Driving Licence
• MOD 90
• EU National ID Card

Expired Passports with a good likeness to the individual will also be accepted.

Guests without photographic ID will be required to provide x2 forms of ID from the list below.

• UK Freedom Pass
• Birth Certificate

Dated within 3 months:

• Bank Statement
• Utility Bill
• Physical Government issued letter e.g. HMRC or NHS

If your guest is aged under 16 they will not be required to provide the above identification. However, they must be accompanied by the eligible ticket holder. Failure to provide adequate proof of identity may result in entry being refused. More details on the security arrangements and requirements, will be sent to you if you are successful in the ballot.

Tickets will be strictly non-transferrable and cannot be used by anyone other than the ballot applicant and their guest named at the point of entry to the ballot.

What Covid-19 guidelines will be in place for the Event?

Event protocols will be subject to government restrictions at the time and any additional BBC Covid-19 event safety measures. Guests may be required to show proof of a negative lateral flow test taken within 24 hours of attendance at the event. This will be an outdoor, non-socially distanced concert. Further Covid-19 related safety information will be sent to successful applicants in the run up to the Event.

How will I get to the Event?

If you are successful in the ballot, you will be sent instructions on which entrance to the concert area to use; and more specific information on travel and transport to Windsor, so that you can plan your journey well in advance.

Will parking be available?

There will be no parking available. However, suitable arrangements will be made, as required, for guests with access requirements.

What facilities are you providing for people with accessibility requirements?

When you apply for the ballot, you will be asked if you have any access requirements, if you are successful you will be contacted personally to discuss your requirements, and provision will be made accordingly.

We are pleased to operate a 2 for 1 PA/Carer ticket scheme for applicants and guests with accessibility needs. If you require accessible facilities and/or wish to apply for a free PA/Carer ticket in order to have assistance at the festival, please apply for a ticket and submit your guest details. If you are successful in the ballot you will be contacted to discuss your access requirements and you will be asked to complete and submit a registration form for your PA/Carer.

There will be a provision for British Sign Language at the concert.

Will I be allowed inside the Castle?

No access to the Castle will be granted. The tickets are for attendance to the concert only.

What happens if it rains?

The stage will be covered, but not the main standing areas. Please bring a waterproof coat with you. Umbrellas will not be permitted during the concert.

What will the dress code be?

There will be no particular dress code. Guests should wear what they feel comfortable in, bearing in mind the weather, the fact that the standing area will be uncovered and the duration – beginning in the afternoon and lasting in to the late evening. We would advise bringing rain wear and warm clothing as the temperature may drop later in the evening. Please avoid wearing clothing with large slogans and/or offensive wording.

Will I be able to bring a bag/luggage?

All bags will be searched and for security reasons large items of luggage will not be allowed. There is no left-luggage facility at the event. Only small A4 sized bags, handbags and rainwear will be permitted. There will be no cloakroom facilities, but there will be toilets in the concert arena.

Will I be able to bring food and drink?

It is not permitted to bring alcohol or food into the Event. There will be concessions within the concert arena if you wish to purchase food or drink. Guests are encouraged to bring with them an empty water bottle with them, there will be water fountains where bottles can be refilled.

Will I be able to bring a camera?

You may bring a camera, for taking pictures at the concert. You will not be permitted to film the concert on your phone. Professional cameras (including zoom lenses), video cameras or any form of audio visual equipment will not be allowed.
