In what promises to be a very special evening, Amanda Barrie will be interviewed at The Old Court about her life and career. Following the show, the actress will take part in a signing session in the foyer.

Amanda’s credits have encompassed theatre, film and television.

Her many theatre roles include Elvira in Blithe Spirit, Mavis in Stepping Out and Marion in Absurd Person Singular. While her various pantomime appearances have included playing Vegetable Fairy in Jack and the Beanstalk, Wicked Queen in Snow White and Fairy Godmother in Cinderella.

In 1954, Amanda appeared in an edition of Morecambe and Wise’s first television series, Running Wild. Since then she has played many memorable characters on the small screen. They include Alma Baldwin in Coronation Street, Beverley Tull in Bad Girls and Psychic Sue in Benidorm.

Meanwhile, Amanda’s film work has included playing Rona in Doctor in Distress, Anthea in Carry On Cabby and Cleopatra in Carry On Cleo.

In 2002, Amanda wrote an honest and moving autobiography full of her characteristic humour called It’s Not a Rehearsal.
