Royal Ascot - Thursday 22nd June (Ladies Day)

Race Meet
10:30 am Thursday, 22 June 2023
Royal Ascot Ladies Day

Fashion Takes Centre Stage on Gold Cup Day.

Vibrant, celebratory and steeped in tradition, the third day of Royal Ascot is truly a day to see and be seen - a glorious occasion when high fashion and millinery masterpieces take centre stage alongside Flat racing’s most elite stayers locking horns in the historic Gold Cup.

The Gold Cup is the oldest and most prestigious race of the Royal Meeting. Staged over the marathon trip of two and a half miles, it is a stiff test of stamina renowned as the world’s premier contest for horses specialising over long distances.

The race has provided some of Royal Ascot’s greatest moments in history. The legendary stayer Yeats landed a remarkable fourth Gold Cup victory under Johnny Murtagh in 2009, while Her Majesty The Queen’s filly Estimate was a hugely popular renewal in 2013. Most recently, amidst jubilant scenes at Royal Ascot in 2019, Frankie Dettori guided Stradivarius to Gold Cup glory for the second consecutive year, the jockey completing a momentous Thursday four-timer in the process.

With thousands descending on Royal Ascot to witness this great race, the third day also sees exquisite fashion and the most spectacular millinery creations on display, boasting an unprecedented sense of style to match the prestige on the track.
