The celebrated artist Hughie O’Donoghue will talk about his series of magnificent paintings, known collectively as The Seven Halts on the Somme. Each of the paintings connects us to a location where the British army was brought to a standstill during the Battle of the Somme.
The works were inspired by the college’s archive of First World War materials and these evocative paintings explore the ways in which remembrance and consciousness evolve. The audience will have a special opportunity to view the paintings with the artist.
