Secrets of the Cranbourne Tower - Talk by Leslie Grout

Talk
6:30 pm Tuesday, 7 March 2023

Discover more about the colourful history of this Grade II listed Royal lodge in Windsor Great Park. Situated on the Windsor and Winkfield border, the tower was once part of a much larger and grander building, the origins of which date back to the 13th century.  King George IV imprisoned his daughter Princess Charlotte there in 1814 when she refused to marry the suitor he had chosen for her.

Join us on Tuesday 7 March for a talk by expert speaker Leslie Grout in the regal grandeur of the Council Chamber at the Windsor Guildhall. Leslie has extensive knowledge of historical Windsor and won Mastermind in 1981 with St. Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle as his specialist subject.

Guests will be welcomed with a glass of fizz in the Windsor and Royal Borough Museum at 6.30pm and will have the opportunity to see items on display in the museum before proceeding to take a seat upstairs in the Council Chamber at 7.30pm.

This talk is organised in association with the Friends of Windsor & Royal Borough Museum.
