The vibrancy and continuity of Windsor Festival run hand-in-hand. Each year the programme varies, but the ethos and purpose remain the same: to entertain by providing enjoyable events for our audience. This year is no exception with a host of events which adhere to this aim and include something a little different to last year
Venturing into the contemporary and jazz genres, we are excited to welcome the Hackney Colliery Band and Simon Spillett Quartet to Windsor Parish Church and Windsor & Eton Brewery respectively. We also begin a four year programme of choral music this year with performances by Tenebrae and The Choir of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Our flagship concert in the Waterloo Chamber with the Philharmonia Orchestra headlines Nathan Meltzer, the 16-year old violinist from New York who won our International String Competition in March. Nathan is an extraordinary talent who not only took First Prize, but was also awarded the Audience Prize and will be playing Sibelius’s Violin Concerto.
We have an abundant Literary Series this autumn, with appearances from Jeffrey Archer, Terry Waite, poet Wendy Cope, Princess Josephine Loewenstein and Luke Harding. There will be a tribute to P D James with Simon Brett, Frances Fyfield and actor Roy Marsden, a private dining experience at Heston Blumenthal’s The Hind’s Head in Bray, and afternoon tea with Terry Pendry, Stud Groom to Her Majesty The Queen.
We hope that you will discover lots throughout the fortnight that appeals and look forward to sharing these festivities with you.
